Medium volume, liters Medium quantity, bags

Purpose

The mixed bed medium was developed to provide an integrated solution to the problems in water treatment systems. It is efficient in removing iron and manganese ions as well as hardness.

Description

The medium is a specially selected mixture of ion-exchange resins with the addition of fractionated natural minerals and a polymer.

Equivalents

The equivalents are the mixed bed ion-exchange media Ecotar B, Ecotar B30, Ecomix P, etc.

Recommendations for use

The medium is used in pressure bed filters for purification of household water. Removes calcium, magnesium, iron and manganese ions in a single stage, subject to the requirements described in the table above.

Service life of the medium is up to 5 years.

Commissioning and operation

Upon loading the tank, back washing is recommended to be performed for 5 minutes to develop laminarity.

In case of high ferric concentrations (above 5 mg/l) in the untreated water as well as for extending the media service life, the antibacterial resin purifier (ARP) should be used once every 2-5 regenerations.

In case of a large media volume, a smell may appear, which does not affect the water quality. If the smell still persists and is unwanted, it is recommended to perform regeneration and leave the tank loaded with the medium for 24 h, subsequently repeating the regeneration. The smell will disappear after a while.

The formula for approximate calculation of the filtration cycle:

V = (1.2 * VFS) / (G + 2 * СMn + 1,37 * СFe)

V - filtration cycle, m3

VFS - volume of Fero Soft, l

G - total hardness of raw water, meq/l

СFe - iron concentration in raw water, mg/l

СMn -manganese concentration in raw water, mg/l

*The formula provides an approximate indication of the actual filtration cycle. The most optimal is the experimental selection of the period between regenerations and washing time, which enables using the water treatment system at minimal consumption of regenerate and washing water.

Washing is required at least once every 14 days.

Standard working conditions for direct-flow regeneration

Stage Instructions Duration or quantity of water
Backwash To be performed at the minimum temperature with the bed expansion of 50-80% 1 free volume for pure water supply or 2-3 free volumes if mechanical impurities are present
Bed precipitation Wait until the bed is completely formed 3-8 minutes
NaCl supply 50-250 g/l should be applied as 10% brine, supplying 2-4 volumes of resin/h Usually, 20-45 minutes depending on the concentration and flow
Slow washing Water in a quantity of 1-3 resin volumes with the supply being approximately equal to regenerate supply Usually, 20-45 minutes depending on the water volume and flow
Final washing Water in a quantity of 3-6 resin volumes preferably at the working flow or > 15 resin volumes per hour Usually, 5-10 minutes

Standard working conditions for counter-flow regeneration

Stage Instructions Duration or quantity of water
NaCl supply 50-150 g/l should be applied as 10% brine, supplying 24 volumes of resin per hour Usually, 20-45 minutes depending on the concentration and flow
Slow washing Water in a quantity of 1-2 resin volumes with the supply being approximately equal to regenerate supply Usually, 20-45 minutes depending on the water volume and flow
Final washing Water in a quantity of 2-4 resin volumes preferably at the working flow or > 15 resin volumes per hour Usually, 5-10 minutes
